Prayer

Jesus teaches His disciples to pray

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

The Collect: The Church's Prayer for this week

Risen Christ, faithful shepherd of your Father's sheep: teach us to hear your voice and to follow your command, that all your people may be gathered into one flock, to the glory of God the Father. Amen

How to Pray

Christians pray to talk to God about all sorts of things in their lives. They might have worries or concerns, they might want to thank God for something fantastic that has happened to them or a loved one, or they might just want to praise God for the world around them. Prayer is a conversation with God. He always promises to listen to our prayers — even if it is your first time. If you've never prayed before here is a good resource page to help you get started
