1st Sunday of Lent
This Lent as we examine ourselves and the way we live our lives, let’s choose the way to life. We cannot be good in our own strength, we cannot resist every temptation that comes our way. But we can get help from the One who knows and understands the pressures and inner doubt we face.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil…
Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! for it is written,
“Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.”’ (Matthew 4:1, 10)
The obedience and faithfulness of Jesus, all the way from the Wilderness to the Cross has established a new era. We no longer have to live with the consequences of Adam and Eve’s choices when faced with temptation. Jesus fought the battle to give in to selfish desires so that he could help us fight ours.
Choose to receive the gift of grace Christ offers to all. When we face choices, big or small let us respond like Jesus did: with worship and by reading the bible.
