We shared this update back in the summer, hear again what our Young Children and Families Leader Becky Lines got up to this summer, want to get in touch email@example.com
I spent a busy summer reaching families beyond the church all around our cluster. From the campfire evening at Carwynnen which attracted families from Troon, Camborne and Porkellis to the farm trail at Releath I was blessed to meet so many new people and to have the chance to talk with them.
Around 40 people joined in with games, singing, exploring the area and sharing food together. We worked with Camborne Wesley to put on a children’s holiday club every Tuesday and held another club at Penponds every Thursday. From meeting with these families we are starting a regular weekly after school club at Penponds and arranging further joint activities with Wesley, the first of which will be a light party on October 31st. One of the great things has been seeing families from one activity come along to other things that we have put on.
At Treslothan churchyard we held regular Monday sessions, finishing the summer with a teddy bears picnic. Out in the community we visited local parks and playing fields with the gazebo, setting up games and crafts for families to take part in, and offering them food. We had some great frizbee competitions, played frog crossing, put up fairy doors and dodged rain showers as we chatted to our new friends.
One thing that became clear was the need to start a toddler group at Troon so we have now launched that and will do more churchyard events during the holidays. But some parents prefer to meet outdoors so we started ‘Story Walk’ on Monday mornings, meeting at a variety of venues around our locality, wondering as we wander at toddler pace.
Summer may be over but some of the things we launched are carrying on. Love and Potatoes is our group for families to come together for tea at Camborne church after school on a Tuesday, and our toddler group at All Saints, Tuckingmill, which welcomed older siblings during the summer takes place every Wednesday morning. As new people join our Camborne Cluster Families Facebook group we are able to communicate the message of Jesus’ love with them, we have been led to meet so many new people and we pray that the seeds we have planted grow and grow.
